URC and RATGDO Announce Integration with Total Control

Unified Access Module streamlines garage door control within URC’s automation ecosystem

HARRISON, NY (October 14, 2025) – URC, a global leader in smart residential and commercial automation, today announced a new integration bringing RATGDO devices from RatCloud into the URC Total Control platform. Built on URC’s Unified Modules framework, this integration allows homeowners and businesses to manage garage door access alongside locks, lighting, climate, and security from a single, consistent interface.

The URC and RATGDO integration is delivered as a two-way Unified Access Module, providing real-time control and feedback for supported devices, including RATGDO32 and RATGDO32 disco models. As with all Unified Modules, the interface is standardized across subsystems, ensuring that users experience the same intuitive controls whether they are unlocking doors, adjusting lights, or operating garage doors.

The URC and RATGDO module is designed as a core-only driver, meaning all system data and device communication are handled through the core. Devices are discovered automatically on the network and populated into Unified Access Control. Installers associate each device’s MAC address with a display name during setup, ensuring that multiple garage doors can be uniquely identified within the system. This makes it simple for users to differentiate between “Main Garage,” “Workshop,” or “Guest Access” doors across the Unified Access interface.

The module supports two-way commands and device events, allowing real-time monitoring of garage door states (open, closed, or in motion) and enabling advanced macro programming. For example, a “Goodnight” scene can automatically close all garage doors, lock exterior doors, and adjust lighting with a single button press.

By leveraging URC’s Unified Module framework, the RATGDO integration ensures compatibility across Total Control’s wide range of interfaces, including remotes, in-wall touch screens, tabletop controllers, and mobile apps.

Dealers and end-users can enjoy a variety of benefits from this integration.

  • Unified Access Control – RATGDO devices integrate seamlessly into URC’s Unified Module interface, providing a consistent experience alongside locks, lighting, and security.
  • Automatic Device Discovery – Garage door devices are discovered on the network and added to Unified Access, reducing programming time.
  • Two-Way Feedback – Real-time updates confirm door status and enable conditional automation based on open/closed states.
  • Voice Activation – Through URC’s Total Control voice features, users can open, close, or check the status of garage doors using simple spoken commands.
  • Scalable Setup – Multiple devices can be managed in a single project, each uniquely identified by display name and MAC address.
  • Advanced Automation – Device events allow garage doors to be included in custom macros, such as “Away Mode” or “Secure Perimeter.”

“Unified Modules represent the future of system design, bringing simplicity to the user interface while maintaining professional-grade flexibility,” said Lars Granoe, VP of Product Development at URC. “By integrating RATGDO within Unified Access, we’re giving dealers the ability to tie garage door control into the broader automation environment, offering end-users a more secure and convenient experience.”

“RATGDO was designed to bring advanced connectivity and reliability to garage door control,” said Paul Weiland. “Working with URC ensures our customers can manage access alongside the rest of their smart home systems, all from a unified platform.”
