URC and WeatherFlow Launch Tempest Weather Station Integration for Total Control

Real-Time Local Weather Data Drives Smarter Automation and Environmental Response

HARRISON, NY (February 11, 2026) - URC and WeatherFlow-Tempest today announced the launch of a new integration between URC’s Total Control system and the Tempest Weather Station. The integration brings real-time, site-specific weather data directly into the Total Control ecosystem, allowing automation systems to respond automatically to changing outdoor conditions such as wind, rain, temperature, lightning, and solar exposure.

Developed by URC, the Tempest Weather Station module provides two-way communication, system feedback, and device-triggered automation. Weather conditions now act as live system inputs rather than passive data points, allowing homes and properties to respond automatically to changing outdoor conditions.

Weather as a Control Signal

Traditional smart homes rely on schedules and manual input. The Tempest integration introduces live environmental awareness. Using data captured directly at the property, Total Control can now react to real-world conditions such as wind, rain, temperature, lightning, and solar intensity. Automation moves beyond time-based logic and responds to what is actually happening outside. This approach improves comfort, protects property assets, and reduces manual intervention.

The module supports two-way data queries, device-triggered events, custom macro integration, and advanced automation logic.

Tempest Weather Stations are discovered automatically once configured, allowing the system to scale cleanly as devices are added.

Supported Hardware and System Compatibility

The integration supports all Tempest Weather Station models and is compatible with Total Control systems running Accelerator 3. The module operates as both a Core and Interface component, allowing weather data to drive system logic while also presenting information through user interfaces.

Before integration, Tempest devices must be configured through the Tempest web portal or app. Integrators authenticate the system using a Personal Access Token and map devices using their unique serial numbers.

Real-Time Weather Data Inside Total Control

Once integrated, the Tempest Weather Station provides continuous access to live environmental data. Available queries include measurements such as:

  • Wind speed, average wind, gusts, and direction
  • Temperature and relative humidity
  • Barometric pressure
  • Rain accumulation and precipitation type
  • Lightning strike count and distance
  • Solar radiation and UV index
  • Battery level and device status

This data becomes available to automation macros and logic conditions, allowing precise control based on real thresholds rather than estimates.

Event-Driven Automation

A key capability of the Tempest integration is device-based event triggering. The module can initiate automation macros when defined conditions are met. Available events include:

  • Wind threshold events
  • Rain start and precipitation changes
  • Lightning detection events
  • Rapid wind shifts
  • Battery level changes

These events allow Total Control systems to respond immediately. Examples include retracting awnings when wind increases, disabling irrigation during rainfall, or adjusting shading based on solar intensity

Practical Automation Scenarios

The Tempest integration enables automation that reacts to the environment rather than a schedule. This integration fuels URC’s New Circadian Lighting Utility as well as numerous common use cases including:

  • Retracting motorized shades or pergolas during high wind
  • Closing skylights when rain begins
  • Adjusting exterior lighting based on cloud cover or sunset conditions
  • Pausing irrigation during precipitation
  • Sending alerts when lightning is detected nearby

These behaviors reduce risk, protect outdoor assets, and improve daily usability.

Clean Programming and System Design

URC designed the Tempest module to align with standard Total Control workflows. Once added, access buttons appear on the Main Menu by default and can be repositioned as needed. Device logic integrates directly into macro editing and automation steps without custom scripting. This consistency shortens setup time and reduces long-term support effort for dealers.

The Tempest integration supports residential estates, vacation properties, and light commercial environments where local weather conditions impact daily operation.

Property managers gain automation that responds automatically to weather changes. End users gain confidence that systems react even when no one is present.
